How to write the perfect answer to questions based on organic chemistry for ISC 2021 Examination

Dear students,

I hope that you all must have prepared physical chemistry and ready to score well in physical chemistry. Now, it's time to prepare for the next major part of ISC question paper i.e. Organic chemistry. This part of the ISC question paper has a 25 mark weightage out of 70.

From the organic chemistry section you all get the following types of questions:

Question Type 1

• What happens when? 

Write the complete balanced chemical equation with the name of the main products.

Question Type 2

• How to convert the following?

These types of questions should be answered by a fully balanced chemical equation.

Question Type 3

• Write short notes

These questions should be answered by giving a short description of reactants, products, and conditions of the reaction. Also, write the balanced chemical equation.

Question Type 4

• Identify the following

These questions should be answered on the basis of observations given in the question. The compound that you have identified should be written with both name and formula in the answer.

Question Type 5

• Define the following

In answer to these questions should have proper definitions and possible examples.

Question Type 6

• Differentiate on the basis of chemical tests

These compounds can be differentiated by giving positive tests (reagents + observation) for both compounds.

Question Type 7

• Reasoning questions

These questions should be answered by giving proper reference to the properties and clearly explaining the cause of that anomaly.
